
It might be nice if all applications supported jack midi, but they do not, and you can use "a2jmidid -e" to make alsa midi software and hardware appear in jack midi, so effectively there is no barrier to mixing jack and alsa midi. When the device is "General MIDI Device" it has other options an the very end of that pane called "Instruments Parameters". This would show linuxsampler in rosegarden options "Manage MIDI devices" BUT IT WASN'T plays back the midi file just fine but there's no sound.
